I am new to rod building. I purchased two Carbon King ice rod blanks to build a couple of lake trout ice fishing rods. The blanks are very nicely finished and appear to be very well constructed. I don’t see them as Heavy Action, but more of a medium heavy. I have built one rod so far and it works well, but just doesn’t have the backbone that I was looking for. I will add the rods to my ice fishing gear, but will continue looking for the heavy action rod blank that I have in mind.
This rod blank is perfectly suited for lake trout in Alaska.
Checks all the boxes for a great heavy dead stick haven't built on it yet so I'm interested in experiencing the action of the tip.
