Notice of Financial Incentive

This notice supplements the Mud Hole Custom Tackle Privacy Policy and is provided under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended. It describes the financial incentives we offer in exchange for personal information.

The programs

We offer two programs that provide value in exchange for personal information.

Mud Bucks, our tiered loyalty rewards program. Points are redeemable at 500 Mud Bucks per $5 off, and members progress through Preferred, Elite (1,250 points) and VIP (2,500 points) tiers. Points are earned by placing orders (1 point per $1 spent) and by the following actions, which involve personal information: a 200-point sign-up bonus on account creation; a birthday bonus of 1,000 points for Preferred members, 2,000 for Elite and 3,000 for VIP; 50 points each for sharing or liking on Facebook or following on Instagram; and 100 points for writing a product review that includes at least one photo or video. Elite and VIP members also receive discount coupons, apparel rewards and access to member-only sales and events. The program is open to retail customers only. Because your store account is also your rewards account, creating an account enrolls you automatically; you may ask us to remove you from the program at any time using the contact details below.

Email signup offers. From time to time we offer a discount on a next order — currently 10% — in exchange for subscribing to our marketing emails.

Personal information collected

For Mud Bucks: your name, email address, account identifier, account creation date, IP address, order history, and — if you choose to provide it — your birth month and day. Birth year is not collected. If you submit a product review, the review content and any photo or video you include. For signup offers: your email address.

How we use it

To operate the rewards program, calculate and redeem points, apply discounts, and send the marketing messages you signed up for. Mud Bucks is operated on our behalf by Smile.io, which acts as our service provider. Where our email marketing integration is enabled, Smile.io provides your email address to Klaviyo, our email and SMS platform, to create your marketing record. Neither provider sells your personal information.

How to join and how to withdraw

You join Mud Bucks by creating an account at mudhole.com, and signup offers by submitting your email address. You may withdraw at any time: unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message, or contact us at help@mudhole.com to be removed from the rewards program. Withdrawing does not affect points already redeemed, and any unredeemed points are forfeited when you leave the program. Separately, points expire after 365 days without points activity; we email you 30 days and again 3 days before that happens.

Value of your information and how we calculated it

We estimate the value of the personal information to be the value of the incentive we provide for it, which is the cost to us of offering that incentive. Mud Bucks are redeemable at 500 points per $5, so each point is worth $0.01. On that basis: creating an account is valued at $2.00 (200 points); providing a birthday at $10.00 for Preferred members, $20.00 for Elite and $30.00 for VIP (1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 points respectively); sharing or liking on Facebook or following on Instagram at $0.50 each (50 points); a product review including at least one photo or video at $1.00 (100 points); and an email signup at 10% of the next qualifying order. Points earned through purchases are a discount on spending rather than an exchange for personal information. We do not assign a separate value to your information beyond the incentive offered, and we do not use it to make decisions about the prices you are charged.

Why this is permitted

The differences described here are reasonably related to the value your information provides to us: these programs help us retain customers, market efficiently, and reduce acquisition costs. We offer them on the same terms to everyone eligible, and declining to participate does not affect the price or quality of the goods you buy from us.
