Spine finder

I've had no problems with this tool it was very easy to find the spine of rods it for me I've used on rods up to 8ft I would recommend taping the blank though for protection from the bearings

Useless for Fly Rods

Got this in a rod wrapping kit. Unfortunately the bearings on this device are not sensitive enough for the short 4pc fly rod sections. Every time I tried to use it I had to stop because it would not move to the spine as in the videos. Plus the bearings are not coated to protect blanks, you have to tape the sections to protect it from the metal. Once tapped it introduces surface friction and adds more resistance to the movement of the bearing. It's a good concept but ultimately its application is limited to blanks of a certain length. Maybe an updated design can remedy this, it's also quite large, maybe a smaller more sensitive version for fly rods could be made.

Hey Adam, we are sorry to hear about your experience with this item. We are going to have our customer service department reach out to you regarding this issue.
