MHX Atrex Carp Rod Blanks

I’ve built two surf rods on the atrex, 13’ 3.75 TC blank. They’re light and cast like a rocket, which is fantastic because I carry my rods on the beach. They’re light also fish beautifully, not being broom stick stiff so when a big pomp hooks up it stays hooked up. Did I say they’re light? They’re fantastic blanks for throwing 3-5 ounces in the surf and bringing in the fish you hook. Would 100% build more for myself or recommend them for a custom build for someone else.

I have built 2 of the 2.5# blanks…one at 12 and one trimmed to 11. They are awesome long distance lightweight surf rods that excel at throwing 1-1.5 tins. Great Albie/bonito rods. Trimmed from the butt to 11’ is perfect. At a full 12’ it’s a little unwieldy, but totally manageable weight wise for all day casting.

I have been building my own carp rods on European made blanks for years.
When I heard about the Atrex blanks I hade to try them out .
I built a matching set of 4 on the 12'-6" x 3-1/2 lb test curve blanks.
And I love them, first the weave carbon just looks stunning.
couple that with the way they can power out long cast, then they play fish close in like a softer test curve blank.
I will be building myself a set of the 10 foot blanks soon.

They are so much more than a carp blank
They have handled everything from Catfish to Sharks
