Looking Good on the Rod

Here's a quick update to my previous rating. I'm in serious like with this reel. I think it performs above its price point. Gears remain smooth after a season of use. The drag is pretty silky. It's all good so far. It's pretty much inline with Stradic and Vanford in my opinion. It's definitely a cut above Sedona, Symmetry and Sahara which everyone I've had is **** in the rain and the gears go rough in a year. No amount of cleaning seems to help. I don't find this reel to have any annoying quirks. I can recommend Florida Fishing Osprey 3000 reel.

If I think about it I'll put put up a two year review.

Looking Good Out of The Box

Looks very good out of the box. Fit and finish are inline with what you would expect at this price point. Gears are smooth and fluid. Spins up easily. The bail flips and trips nice and smooth. Seems a bit smallish for a 3000 series reel but I'm guessing it keeps the weight down. I find the gloss black finish very pleasing to the eye. It looks a little old school to me for some reason but the gear box is nice and compact.
On the negative side there is very little documentation. There are no spool shims just incase the spool height needs adjusted, no oil and the parts list is printed on the inside of one of the flaps on the box top. Pretty minor stuff there. I probably wouldn't use the oil anyway. Boca high speed bearing oil is the sizzle.
All that said I haven't even put line on it yet. Christmas present and the water has gotten a little hard here in the northeast. Planning on building a rod for it in the next couple of weeks.
If it turns out to be a POS I'll update this review but for now it's looking promising.
