I had an Alps freshwater tip top gauge, but quickly realized it was not accurate - as in not even correct mm conversions from 64s. Got this CRB Pro Tip Top Guide and it is on the money. I have a couple of boxes of tip tops, labeled by size, and no matter what size I pull out, it fits perfectly on the little tips on this guide. The holes for checking your blank's tip size are equally accurate. Definitely worth the money and peace of mind knowing it is an accurate gauge.
Love it! The gray plastic one is a waste of money as the sixe numbers cannot be seen. The aluminum one is great.
My old school sizing gauge would only go down to size 5, the CRB Sizing Gauge goes down to size 3. This works great for fly rods and ultra light rods. And I'm able to size the tip and the blank for a match.
