CFX Composite Carbon Fiber Grips - 7" Half Wells Fly with Cutout

Product Details

7" half wells grips for fly rods, includes 0.795" ID pre-bored cutout for recessed reel seat. Recommended for use on rods up to 6 wt.

CFX Carbon Fiber Composite Grips

CFX grips begin with a proprietary carbon infused core material. It is the weight of traditional 4 lb urethane foam but has the density and strength of 7 lb. It is stronger, lighter, and more dense than any grip material available. What this means to you is the ultimate in energy transmission, far superior to cork, EVA, hypalon or other carbon fiber grips.

CFX grips have a buffed matte finish that is comfortable, easy to grip, and impervious to UV breakdown. The end result is a beautiful grip that is lighter and more sensitive than any rubber based handle, translating to more bites felt, more hook sets and more fish in front of the camera.

CFX Composite Carbon Fiber Grip 7 inch half well/cutout

I have always built rods (casting, fly, salt) with cork handles. I was looking to build a 3 wt fly rod and thought I would call Mud Holes's customer service for some advice on the rod blank. I spoke with Jake and after discussing the rod with him, he advised me that I might be happy with the composite carbon grip. I'm an older fellow and build rods for myself, family and friends. Jake challenged me and assured me that I would be happy with this handle and new technology. I'm glad I stepped out of my comfort zone of 50 years of building rods with cork handles. This handle was easy to work with, mounted well and is lightweight and probably indestructable. A friend asked me to build a rod for him and I used the same handle. I did not think that I would build any more spinning rods but I am seriously thinking of one now with this handle. I think this is also another distinct advantage of dealing with Mud Hole; they have very knowledgable personnel who take the time to speak with you and discuss your rod build!

Solid handle

This half wells CF handle is great, and holds fast. If I had any problem with it it would be that the handle receiver opening is a bit to big. Would like it to be a bit more snug.
