The 4-Spool Thread Extension upgrades the HWS-1 Hand Wrapper with a silky smooth tension system that uses a combination of bearings, springs, and precision knobs to eliminate friction and achieve infinite control of four different threads at once. While conveniently housing four small to medium sized thread spools, this 4-Spool extension also uses the large tension knobs to allow for user-friendly installation and adjustments, such as changing tension, or even swapping out threads.
With this adaptor, you will experience pure, unimpeded thread tension to master underwraps, overwraps, trim bands, inlays, and all the custom thread wraps in between in no time!

Works excellent I love it
I expected a tight fit given the video review I saw prior to purchasing but after a few attempts of trying to line it up just right and realizing that it will never actually “just fit” I started light sanding the center post with 220 grit sand paper on both sides. After sanding, cleaning, and re-fitting several times to not remove too much material, I was able to seat the HWS-TC4 on the center post. Just when I thought I was done, the hole in the HWS-TC4 would not match up with the hole of the original center post. I tried re-seating the HWS-TC4 several times, thinking it was me not placing it in the correct position. Ended up taking a file to widen the hole just enough on the HWS-TC4 and slightly on the original center post. Total time installing was over half an hour. At $42.95 - a 10% coupon code this “upgrade” was too much of a hassle and Mudhole/ CRB should not be charging what they do for it given the modification needed to get it to fit. *In the picture you’ll find additional tools needed to get this 4 spool upgrade to fit.
Works great and allows for quick changing of thread colors.
Your 4-spool upgrade is a great addition to the HWS-1. Although I'm using it to thread wrap Pens instead of fishing rods, being able to use 3or4 spools at one time is very helpful. It is a great setup.
