This isn’t a bad tool, however if it was in stock I would have gone with the CRB Pro aluminum set, however I needed it at the time. That said this being plastic, it flexes then backs out of the blank causing you to reset it frequently. It works as needed but if you have the extra $$ and Mudhole has it in stock buy the set
Has worked out great for wrapping and drying
They do the job but not as nice as the crb pro aluminum ones
I use this tool a lot when making fly rods and while the blanks slip off even when I put tape on the extension tool, it does help. I have been temped to put something on this like rubber cement or double sided tape to help with the blank from slipping off but I am worried it would gum up the inside of the ferrule. That being said my old rod wrapper came with wooden extensions and I had the same issues with those as well. I wish these had some kind of rubber sleeve or replacement rubber sleeves to help grip the blank.
Good tool for smaller rods, works great when hand spinning and does the job. When using for epoxy finishing you need to keep checking on it because the rod slips back from a tight fit and will stop spinning. I put electric tape on the spindle to create a rubbery service to try and hold the rod better. It kinda works but I still check several times to make sure it stays spinning. It needs some rubber bushings or something to help hold the rod better when spinning.
