Very good product
I purchased your ultimate wrapper a few weeks ago, after my Daughter insisted that I owed it to myself after completing my divorce.(first and last! lol) Read all the reviews and at this point I would say most of the negatives have been corrected, such as cord for the foot petal as it goes a few feet past 8 ft., the foot-pedal itself works flawlessly and is a sewing machine petal which is what I had on the wrapper I built and was still using 38 years ago (My daughter is taking the old Wrapper). For me getting used to the thread carriage as I've always just held the spools of thread in my hand, is an adjustment. though the springs on the carriage are very strong, stronger than they need to be in my opinion. The lack of assembly directions was odd, Even though its pretty straight forward and really didn't give me any problems. My only other critique would be the speed control volt meter. I get that the idea is to control the speed by regulating the voltage, But it's overkill and added expense and not necessary. If it's turning too fast or too slow I just adjust the speed control to where I want.
Nothing really major honestly, I will say, It has energized me to want to build more rods. All in all and I'm no professional rod builder, it's a great unit.
In near 50 years of rod building I've seen more than a few innovations that have come and gone. I am also skeptical about trade show awards, as I've seen how some industries hand them out............. This is my 7th power wrapper, and was, again, looking to replace another blown motor on my previous unit. My wife actually talked me into getting this machine as a replacement. I am more than happy with the performance, power, and smoooooooooooth operation this unit delivers. I would suggest getting a 4th support, or as I will be doing, a 5th. It helps with support the limber tips of longer inshore rods. The 4 spool thread carriage is a game changer for me, as I tend to go to the extremes with thread art. In the last 2 weeks I have done 6 rods on my new machine, and cannot believe how much this wrapper has upped my game. Faster, cleaner and tighter. Get this if you are truly serious about your rod building.
