This is one of my favorite blanks. It has a soft tip and carry’s that vibe about 50% down the blank. Then you get the backbone you need to horse one in if you need to. If I am cranking a square I’ll or a lipless this is the rod every time. It is just fun to throw and is great at getting bass to the boat on a treble hook bait. I will say the ridges in it do make thread wrapping a bit difficult but worth it.
Raw finish carbon might be a turn-off for some builders but I find it gives me more options for finishing and making it however the customer or myself wants. A super light sanding with steel wool and a little time make it less sharp on the ridges and a bit easier on wrapping. I don't go heavy, just a bit of a "polished" semi-sanded finish. Add some U40 urethane rod finish and it complely changes the look into a spectacle for the shelves and the customer's. Giving it a translucent, slightly silvery finish with a gloss that brings out the carbon fiber. The rod is a stunning performance workhorse with a stout backbone and a taper to the tip that allows for perfect action and sensitivity. Great for artificial lure in the salt flats and backwaters as well as the freshwater for bass and catfish. It's an "all-around" blank that is made for long days on the water. Total overall weight came out to be exactly 5.5 ounces after adding accents and inlays to the grips and a custom inlay in the butt cap. Ill definitely be building more Cashion blanks for customers looking for lightweight, strong and everyday fishing rods.
Been using these for a few years now and have made mag bass, popping, about 4 casting rods and 5-6 spinning rods. They are great blanks. I use them for inshore trout and reds and they’ve caught trout from Florida to Texas.
