Spare Tension Rod is a good idea

If you use the handwrapper, the instructions say to use the hot melt glue to permanently install the Tension Rod, but if you move your wrapping system around or box it up for a while, two things are bound to happen, 1, You lose the rod and 2, it breaks just like a rod tip. I thought...don't glue it, but that just increases the chance of losing it in a box, and if you foget to release tension on the rod prior to cutting the thread, the entire rod can fly across the room. So, be prepared...have a spare tensin rod on hand. Same goes for the movable thread guide that slides across the front of the wrapper...Either buy a spare, or tape across the ends of the slide channel to avoid loss. Spares are cheap so you do not waste your time in the middle of a build searching for necessary pieces.

Tension from the tension rod

For me, they are hit or miss. I might be using them wrong but I seem to break them on a regular basis. I use them on a 4 spool carriage and with a power wrapper. I have the spools tension set at what seems to be very loose to the point they aren't free spooling.
