U-40 Perma Gloss

Product Details

The ultimate one-part urethane rod finish. For those requiring a water-clear, non-yellowing finish that will outlast the rod itself in durability.

The perfect finish for fly rods, light and medium spin rods, pack rods, and in all cases where a large bulky buildup on the rod windings is objectionable.

The perfect finish for any rod subject to constant sun and weather. An excellent coating for wood reel seats.

Perma gloss for carbon fiber handles

I use Perma gloss as my final finish on carbon fiber grips. I like the feel and texture of the Perma gloss for the handles I make for various rods. I think it feels better on the handles than standard epoxy. It works good and I really like it. I will try using it on one of my fly rod builds in the near future for thread finish.

U-40 Perma Gloss

Relatively new to using Perma Gloss, bought this product for restoring vintage rods that have had poor care. With a little prep, they can look practically new again.
On new builds, i am using it primarily on Deco Wraps and Decals. It works and looks great on decals if you apply and least one or two coats first, then apply the decal and a couple of more coats over top. One caution, is when applying a decal over a thread wrap. Up to 4 coats of U40 Perma Gloss, and the thread ridges still remain and can be seen under the decal. To help this, I now apply two coats Perma Gloss, then one coat of Gen 4 epoxy. apply the decal on the Gen 4 epoxy then two or more coats of Perma Gloss. One thing to watch for, is that the U40 Perma Gloss can remove some the writing on the Decals. I have noticed this most on the Gold colors on the MHX Rod Spec Decal. I have not tried CP coating the decal yet, but that might help.
