When I needed a new push pole it was difficult to pass up this MHX pole. I am coming from a Stiffy Guide and cringed at the thought of dropping another $1400 when this was a possibility at less than $500. For reference, we probably pole our skiff more than we're under power, so a good pole is crucial. Having said that, I wasn't expecting the same or even similar performance and I couldn't be happier to say that this pole is lighter and stiffer than the Guide. I'm so happy with it, that as long as it holds up, this MHX pole will be my go to going forward, Kudos to MudHole for providing such a good value. I couldn't be happier. If you're considering this and comparing it to a +$1000 pole, don't hesitate - you'll get everything that you want and need and save $500 - $1000.
For reference, I am poling an 18' skiff mainly for tarpon and have been using this MHX for about a month in and around Tampa Bay and the Keys.
