Electric glue guns work great!

Try using an electric (no-drip) glue gun and the polymer tip adhesive
when cementing the guide feet to the rod.
This will allow using one type of cement for the tips and guides and a no-drip glue gun will allow
putting just a spot of glue where it's desired, on the rod and not all over your bench. Give it a try, it works for me, might work for you!
