The greatest commercial reamer available. These versatile solid glass reamers are designed to work as a hand reamer for the delicate work or to be chucked up in your drill for jobs requiring a more heavy-duty approach. Don't get me wrong, the reamers themselves work fairly well, especially used in a power drill or on a lathe
That being said there's a major flaw with the handle design
The metal insert that goes into the plastic handle is a smooth, ROUND insert, which is only glued? In place and it's prone to breaking free under anything over mild load,
If this insert was multi sided, or keyed it would prevent this from happening, but unfortunately it is not
So if you're ever planning on doing any hand reaming, make sure it's light work to avoid breaking these handles
you need to put this in a power drill for sure. if you try and use the handle you'll be working on it all day.
purchased a couple of these, I don't think I would put it on a drill unless you went really slow. I had a little issue with the handle becoming loose. They did the job I don't know how long they will last.
I hate to say it but this reamer is absolutely terrible. I watched the instruction video that mudhole posted on youtube about how the reamer should be used and followed their directions exclusively. It failed to successfully ream even a single rod handle for me. After the first 10 seconds of drilling, the fiberglass rod that it is made out of had heated up and warped. The adhesive that holds the sandpaper on the rod had also come completely apart as well, and a 6" section of sandpaper actually ripped off the reamer and lodged itself inside the cork handle. It completely ruined my custom rod handle. I have been ordering from Mudhole for years and can say I have always been impressed with their products, but in this case there is just nothing positive to say.
