While the sets and production quality have continued to evolve, one thing has never changed—the commitment to delivering valuable information and helping both new and experienced rod builders sharpen their skills and grow in the craft.
As we have just surpassed the 125th Episode of Mud Hole Live in August, we are going to be expanding our content to include more purpose built content that marries rod building and catching fish. Don't worry, Mud Hole Live isn't going anywhere, we are simply adding to the library of information here at Mud Hole.

In each episode, we’ll pick a specific technique and craft a purpose-built custom rod designed to help you catch more fish. From selecting the blank and components to dialing in the reel, line, and lures, this is more than just rod building—it’s Built to Bite.
Each episode will be a crash course on a technique specific rod build. We will take you through the process of not only choosing the the right blank but dissect the specifics on length, action and power for that technique. Hunter and I might not always agree on our selections, but we will be here to give you the why and not just the how.

You know this is far more than just about rod blanks! We discuss guide trains from spacing to sizing as well as our preferred reel seats, reels and even line, leaders and knots. All of these parts working together are integral in building the best, highest performing fishing rod on the water.
