Build Todd's "Mosquito Lagoon" Redfish Rod!
MHX lead rod designer and charter captain Todd Vivian has fished this rod all over the southeast for Redfish & Trout, and it performs exceptionally well.
Todd's spinning rod is based on the SJ842, finished in metallic seafoam* with white thread wraps.
Comfort is enhanced by the incorporation of an ergonomic handle design featuring CRB's Palm Swell reel seat and MHX Winndry© polymer grips.
The super light SSR guide train trims extra weight from the build, making this rod a joy to fish for long hours on the water.

So if you’re thinking you can’t get the in-person learning experience remotely, you’d be incorrect. The instructors give you so much individual attention, it’s easy to follow along with them on Zoom, and they stay with you until you’ve got it nailed down, even if that means the class runs outside the scheduled hours. Cindy and Curt did a great job, I learned an awful lot in the 3 sessions we had. Now can we talk about value? The rod kit is very nice, and the equipment/supplies that come with the class are worth the entry fee on their own. Best couple hundred bucks I’ve spent in quite some time. I’ll be taking more classes like this for sure.
I would like to thank Jose and Buzz for the Texas Redfish Rod build. They were both excellent instructors and were very informative and answered any questions I had. They were very knowledgeable and made a first timer very comfortable in making his first rod.
Curt was a fantastic instructor. I was initially on the fence about taking a rod building class virtually, but could not justify the travel expense for going to FL just for a single class. After getting going with the class, the virtual environment that mudhole has set up works really well. It almost feels as though you have one on one points of instruction that you otherwise would not have with the in-person classes. Though this class was intended for someone with a little bit of a rod building background, Curt was able to walk me through any of the questionable steps and explain why we do what we do when building a rod.
Just finished my remote class last week. it was amazing, the instructors Cindy and Curt had so much knowledge and walked me through so easily with different camera angles and different tips and tricks of the trade. They kept the class so exciting with pictures and stories, I absolutely loved it. I ordered multiple blank kits to keep me busy and one kit came with incorrect grips and Cindy and Curt worked to make it right, Curt even sent me a grip kit from his personal stash. The only question I have is to which class to take next!
These instructors were down right awesome !! Thank you so much for the knowledge and experience.

I highly recommend taking this class! This was my first Virtual Workshop I have attended (I did attend an in-person workshop with Mud Hole in 2018); I can't say enough enough nice things about this Virtual Workshop! I enjoyed the online instruction format and learned a ton in this workshop! Curt was our instructor and he has a wealth of knowledge & tips that he shares in the workshop. The rod, kit & supplies you receive are top notch. Curt walked us through the materials, performed demonstrations, and answered any/all questions along the way. If you are on the fence about taking this class, don't hesitate... it's a great class and Curt is an awesome person to learn from! Now I have a fantastic rod and I can't wait to fish with it!!!
