With just 4 students to an instructor, students receive one-on-one training and personalized guide spacing per their rod’s specifications.
Day 2: On the second day, you will learn the ins and outs of wrapping guides with thread from some of the most experienced builders in the industry. Next, instructors will explain the best practices in epoxy finish from mixing and application, to proper drying and curing.
Day 3: The final day is reserved for enjoying some exclusive advanced technical seminars and test casting your new custom-built rod. We encourage you to bring your own reel for both setup and casting.

I just attended this class and it was incredible. First, even if I never build another rod again, everything I learned about the setup and performance of rods will change how I see, purchase, and use them. That alone makes the class worth it.
But, the class is not only incredibly instructive, it is also a great value. I learn so much from YouTube and had watched many videos on rod building prior to this class. I felt like I could buy all the supplies and equipment and do just fine - and save some money. I was wrong. The rod and equipment supplied are tremendous - and the three days of direct feedback were invaluable. No substitute to learning from masters who have done it thousands of times.
If you fish - and you are somewhat technically inclined - take the class. Build a rod, learn how they are engineered, be a better fisherman and have some fun in the process.
I just completed a 3 day rod building class at the Mud Hole facility. The class and the instructors were awesome. We had access to all the instructors and they all spent time with us to answer our questions, demonstrate techniques or give positive reinforcement when we struggled to do something. They also passed on helpful tips they've learned that we used throughout the rod building process. Each of the instructors seemed more knowledgeable in a specific type of fishing which really helped understand the differences between building an inshore rod with a heavier tuna/cobia style rod to a deep sea rod to fly rods. I can't recommend this class enough for anyone interested in getting started building rods either for themselves or as a business. The class provides not only the knowledge but also most of the equipment you'll need to get started.

The class was incredible, the instructors very knowledgeable, polite and always interested if we were learning or had any questions. Any doubts were quickly answered or even given a practical example at the time. The materials used in the class were of high quality, ensuring that the Rod was perfect in the end. Excellent location, spacious, easy access. I recommend it to all fishermen... knowledge for a lifetime... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
