Complete Rod Building Start-Up Supply Kit FSB-2

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He loves it and is currently working on his first build.

This is a great kit. It has plenty of great stuff in it for the value but when I was building the Advanced Hand Rod Wrapper I was running into problems because it didn’t come with instructions so I had to work off f the picture. The “booklet” that comes with it is amazing but the guide spacing chart is extremely confusing. There is no information on how to read it, it’s just a bunch of numbers that have no value to a beginner. I gave myself a nose bleed because i had such a hard time even finding info on the mud hole site. It took me about an hour before I realized that I could just use a rod for an example on where to place the guides. But apart from that the kit is very good.

I bought this kit to see if I would enjoy building rods. So far, I've been pretty impressed. There are a couple of simple modifications I will make to the wrapper stand to make it better at some point, but it's very usable as is. If you're considering this kit, buy with confidence. I just finished my first rod and it went pretty easy. If I can do it, anyone can. I'm not exaggerating (much) when I say I barely know which end of a screwdriver is the working end.

I recived the Complet Rod Building Start-up suply kit FSB-2 as a cristmas gift. Up until now I was using a fly tying bobbin to replace guides.
The hand wraper is great . I got called away while wrapping and was able to leave it sit under tension some thing i could not do before.
I will be ordering the tip suport tool as well as the 4 spool thread carriage upgrade soon. I want to try my hand at a 4 color tiger wrap.
This kit is perfect for someone just starting out . A word of advice when using the rod turner add two wraps of tape to a grip before inserting into Turner to avoid leaving any marks on the cork grip.
Everything in the kit is top notch and will be used soon. As i see several rod builds in the future. 2 5 wt. fly rods and a medium heavy casting rod.

I recently just got this rod building kit and everything was intacted and worked very well hoping to build my first rod soon.
