Jesus Peña
Jesus Peña was a student in our very first rod building workshop over 10 years ago!
He flew to Chicago from South Texas to take this class in 2009. Soon after, he began helping instruct Mud Hole classes in Corpus Christi, Houston and Dallas.
Jesus has been with Mud Hole Custom Tackle as a full time instructor for over 5 years.

Though I had prior instructions of rod building. This class taught me a lot. From guide spacing to finishing. It was a very fun class and every laid back. I would do other classes if given the chance.
This was a great class taught by Buzz and Mike. They answered all my questions and demonstrated tips/tricks/techniques throughout the class. I learned enough from this class to feel confident to make more rods on my own. The rod I made in class impressed my fishing buddies. I would highly recommend this class to anyone wanting to take the first step to learning rod building.
All of the materials necessary to build my first salt water, inshore fishing rod were included in the class price.
I was amazed that there were two instructors watching and giving input. Six of us beginners were online, so the teacher-student ratio was impressive. The pace was agreeable and there was plenty of time for questions. I never felt rushed. The rod I built was ready the next day, and I have to say, it's nice to fish with equipment that I crafted myself. I will be back for more.

Great course put on by Jesus and Curt! Its clear there is a ton of knowledge between the two and they put on a great course together. 10/10.
Buzz and Mike did an awesome job with the class. Very patient and were willing to explain things multiple times until everyone inderstood. Just the materials sent for class/build were worth more than price of class. The knowledge these two provided us was invaluable.
