As a low priced, light weight, short rod blank, it's an economical choice. I bought it to make a 4'6" trout rod as it was the shortest and lowest price rod I could find. Overall, it seemed to be a nice, mostly straight blank. The paint has no durability. It is super easy to scratch during the build process and scratches stand out like a beacon due to the underlying rod being black. There's really no correction, short of sanding and painting the entire rod. Personally, I would prefer a standard finished black or grey unpainted rod to the CRB color rod, simply due to the fragility of the paint.
I cut a 5'6" blank to make a 4'6" light casting rod for small stream combat trout fishing. I ordered another make a similar rod for my grandson's first fishing rod, and yet another for a 5'6" casting rod to donate to a church fundraiser. For my own rod, I did choose the color matching CRB casting seat, but again, due to the fragility of the paint, I will be using other options on the other two.
I'm looking forward to trying out my short rod this summer. I expect it's going to take a beating in the willows and trees, and will end up with battle scars in the paint. I probably won't buy the CRB color series blanks again.
Building it for a friends 8 year old daughter in bubble gum pink with metallic purple accents and reel seat looking great so far
Made this one for myself. Can't wait to catch small SB on top in shallow water
I purchased the 5'6" pink spinning rod blanks so I could make a rod for each of my two grand daughters, Theresa age 4 and Agnes age 3 who liked fishing with me last year. I am attaching the picture of the first rod that is almost done and will work on the second one soon. I also bought the each girls a spinning reel.
I have used these MudHole blanks before, they are a good and inexpensive rod to make and use.
Keep up the good service also, Thanks, Mike
Use a lot of the 5’6 great product
