Highly recommend

I found out about this through Matt Stefan’s YouTube channel and glad I did. I made my first rod(to replace one that I broke) and repaired another with a broken guide. The kit paid for itself right away! I followed the instruction booklet and watched videos along the way, which was very helpful. Ready to make a few more and add to my arsenal. Highly recommend for someone starting out making their own rods. It is very satisfying catching fish on a rod you made. Look forward to making rods for friends and family as gifts too.

Fun hobby kit

I bought this as a new hobby and it ticks all the boxes. It's got all the parts to help you learn the craft. This isn't for someone who knows what they are doing its for the noob. I have built 3 rods so far with each one getting a little better. Plus the level for customization is astronomical.

Kind of cool to build a rod and catch a fish on it if you ask me.

I built 1 crummy rod and 5 Great. rods in the past 18 months.

I bought this 2 years ago and have built 6 rods. Each one was better had the first! If you watch the videos and look on-line you can see plenty of rod building methods and this kit lets you try ma

Kit gimic

Do not waste your money. You cannot wrap anything close to the handle with this setup, forget using it for wrapping a hook holder. One long underwrap and you will wish you had something else to use. A power turner and couple bonnets would be better. The mount on the dryer is weak at best, too small for the grip. The rod holders are flimsy and requires taping or securing them to the table. Disappointed that it isn't practical for wrapping a whole rod as is. Good for the mid section and that is about it...

Nothing fancy, but builds a good looking rod

My first attempt at building a rod was using this kit. Zero experience. This is a simple kit, nothing fancy, but it's easy to use and made a very good looking rod on my first attempt. FYI, the reamers can't be used in a drill, but working them by hand is not real difficult. Wear a glove though. The only addition you need besides this kit in my opinion is guide tubing. The masking tape provided to attach the guide feet to the blank is too big to work on the small end guides. I went to a hard ware store and bought their smallest o-rings and cut them off after getting the wrap started. Would be nice to pick your thread colors as well.
