I've done this blank as a spinning, casting and kids pushbutton rods, its very light and strong. by far my favorite light rods are on this blank
Cut 6 in. Off to make it 5 ft for a 8 yr. Girl who loves to fish
I built a rod on this blank for a few of my buddies kids, and he freakin loves throwing finesse rigs on them. He uses the kids' rods so much he asked me to build him one on it. For the price it's hard to beat how it performs. As you can see in the pic, it'll handle pigs with no problem, that's the navy blue rod right there.
I just built this rod and can't wait to try it out. I broke one like it last year that was green. This one is cool gray. I cut 3 inches off of it to make it 5' 3". I used sea snake inlay with a rainbow trout decal over top of that and light brown and silver thread for trim and guide wraps. I also added some black glitter to the finish and it looks sharp.
This blank seems decent for the price. I have not built it up yet. My only complaint so far is the measured weight is not as advertised at 1.41 oz. Mine was 1.62 oz. That's more than the advertised weight of the next power level up.
