Junk

Worthless. supposed to fit 1/4 inch shaft. hole is was to big and not drilled evenly. tapered, one end larger than the other. had to ream the hole even in order to shim the 1/4 inch shaft. should be embarrassed to sell this. don't buy one.

severe wobble

This plastic cup on my rod dryer is defective. I purchased the dryer as a package with the hand wrapper from Bejuco Flats fly Co. in florida via ebay. The mounting boss on the cup is not perpendicular to the cup. It is a manufacturing deformity, It wobbles nearly 3/16 " per rotation. Pablo at bejuco flats says this is normal. I don't think so. I am hesitant to apply my poly spar finish coat to my 1916 Leonard Catskill bamboo fly rod with intricate intermediate wraps. Stripping sagged poly varnish back off would be a disaster. Hey Doug, thank you for reaching out to us with your experience using this chuck. Since the CRB dryers came out they have gone through several generations with the tolerances tightening up each generation. Many of the original ones did have about a 1/8'' gap between the drive shaft and the chuck. This does allow for some wobble but will not affect the dryers ability to do its job. We have heard of rod builders using a wrap of masking tape to arbor up the drive shaft to stop the wobble. The newer chucks do have a tighter tolerance to prevent this issue. We have some models like the 'CRB Wire Chuck' that are a higher quality and have tighter tolerances than this chuck. - Mud Hole Custom Tackle
